I was born in Yerevan in 1992 and moved to London in 2000 where I attended Cheam High School. When at Cheam High, I enjoyed getting involved with school and community activities and was elected Head Boy by staff and students in my last year there, during which I also worked part-time as a tutor at Explore Learning after-school tuition centre.

In 2010 I was accepted into the University of Cambridge where I have just completed my first year. My involvement in university life has ranged from participating in my college (Caius) telephone campaign to being elected student representative for the Faculty of Economics, as well as the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Alongside my studies, I enjoy practicing White Crane Kung Fu, which, apart from its physical benefits, has opened me up to new states of mind and a new culture - as a result of which I now study Mandarin Chinese.

This year it was my first time doing the Develop Armenia Project. I feel that I benefited greatly from the insights I gained and from the rewarding community work I undertook as part of the tightly-knit Armavir Team. I spent the remainder of summer in rural Nepal, teaching primary school children English and math. This was followed by a trek to Everest Base Camp to fundraise for the school - overall, a challenging, but extremely rewarding experience.

Now I am starting my second year at Cambridge and am looking forward to the rigours and challenges of the time ahead.
