I was born in 1983 in Tehran, Iran. In my childhood I was exposed to different forms of art ranging from dancing to music. Yet what became a lifelong passion for me was painting. I was full of imagination and painting gave me the tool to express it.

During my twelve years of study at school I became aware of my academic strengths, especially in Mathematics and Physics. These diverse interests presented to me a dilemma over what to choose as my lifelong career. When introduced to architecture as a combination of art and science, I found the profession compelling. At that time entry to architectural school was highly competitive and required an enormous amount of prior study to tackle the entrance examination. Happily my efforts were rewarded and I managed to enter one of the best schools of architecture in Iran.

This event became a turning point in my life. From a world where everything one needed to know was taught and all problems had a certain precise answer, I entered a world of uncertainty. No problem had one single solution and no solution was in any way better than the other. The delighting lesson was to embrace the beauty of uncertainty and to delve into it with imagination and creativity.

While I enjoyed learning about the history and traditional architecture of my region, I was aware of the importance of learning about contemporary issues in architecture and the possible ways of addressing them. Studying at a school that could provide me with the best knowledge of the subject matter had become a dream of mine. When I moved to the United States in 2008 I sought to pursue my dream. I am currently in my second year at Harvard Graduate School of Design where I am exposed to a broad range of very interesting and challenging issues that enrich my view of architecture.

Along with my passion for architecture, I enjoy reading, painting, sketching, swimming, dancing and cooking my favorite dishes both from Armenian and Persian cuisines.

"They say that dreams always come and go, but once you write down a plan and draw out a path, you are looking at the very possibility of achieving them."
