I was born in Armenia in 1983. I come from a family that has long been involved in architecture, which very naturally led me to follow in their footsteps by becoming an architect myself. I, therefore, gained an understanding of the basics and ethical principles of architecture since my childhood within the family.

It served as a platform for my studies at Yerevan State Architectural University from 2000-2006. My graduation project titled "Site Plan Proposal for Etchmiadzin Monastery: Revision and Reconstruction", the key objective of which was the adaptation of the historical environment to the contemporary existing conditions of Armenian Apostolic Church, underwent international reviews and got awarded in Armenia, Russia, and Italy and was well appreciated by His Holiness Catholicos of all Armenians.

I simultaneously worked at an architectural studio where I participated in a variety of design projects, which entailed apartment houses, hotels, hospitals, churches, musical and opera theaters. However, I developed a strong desire to further expand my knowledge pertaining to deeper spatial and social implications of design practices on all scales (from building to urban grid), veering away from a lot more researched areas, such as aesthetics and ergonomic principles of design.

In 2008 I was successfully accepted into the world-renowned Bartlett Architectural School at UCL for MSc Advanced Architectural Studies taught programme where I have successfully completed my research. The MSc AAS course provided me with the tools and methods to approach complex social and spatial problems and to have better understanding of how architecture and space, in general, can affect people.

In 2009 I was admitted to a PhD program at UCL and currently I am pursuing the first year of my PhD: I am looking at the impact that design of a building or a city carries on one's behavior and social interaction skills.
