The Seminar as the Main Reason for Staying in Armenia
The one-month seminar prepared by Luys alumni Anna Kalashyan (London School of Economics) was launched on December 4th, 2010. It aimed to familiarize young students with the admissions processes of the world’s top universities, advising them on how to apply and gain admission to such schools.
The topics raised during the seminar were wide-ranging: choice of school and specialization, preparation of statements of purpose, financial aid, types of interviews, etc.
"The students were quite enthusiastic. They asked various questions. At the end of the seminar, some students even sent me their statements of purpose by e-mail, for corrections and comments. That was already a sign of confidence. I really wish to share the knowledge I have received from abroad to all those students who intend to become Luys scholars in the future,"-stated Anna Kalashyan.
In the words of the participants, the seminar was important not only because the necessary information regarding admissions was presented by a person who had crossed that path and had succeeded, but also because persons sharing similar ideas and goals were gathered in the same place.
"Such seminars help me understand that I have many like minded peers who also strive to do the most in life and to reach further," said Lilit, a participant in the seminar.
As Anna Kalashyan mentioned, the seminar was also important in her decision to stay in Armenia: "It was a unique opportunity for me to collaborate with youth in Armenia and to become familiar with the concerns and aspirations of the new generation."
