I was born and raised in Yerevan. In 2004 I earned my Bachelor’s degree with honors from Yerevan State University, Department of English Language and Literature. In 2006 I received my MA in Political Science at the American University of Armenia (AUA) where I had received the highest merit scholarship for my studies. During my study years I also completed a one-year elective Certificate Program in Environmental Sciences and Conservation, which largely defined my further interests. While I was involved in this program, I worked as a volunteer researcher at Rice University, USA.
After graduation from AUA, I worked with several non-profit organizations, conducting environmental surveys and evaluations in relation to Armenian forests and other environmental issues, and creating a small eco-library in a regional forestry service. I have also participated in numerous international summer schools, training events and congresses. Currently I work as the Environmental Education Program Manager at Armenia Tree Project (ATP), a charitable foundation based in Armenia and the USA. My ongoing work and special eco-literacy projects are targeted at urban and rural adult communities, as well as numerous schools in Armenia and the Armenian Diaspora in the USA and Europe.
Soon I am going to undertake a graduate program in Environment & Sustainable Development (MSc) at University College London (UCL) for the academic year 2011-2012. In the future I would like to apply my knowledge and skills to spread the culture of environmental stewardship and participate in the development of my country’s policies in the area of sustainability and environmentally responsible economic growth.
